Duke University faculty members play important roles in the lives
of individuals with disabilities.
The Student Disability Access Office (SDAO) works closely with deans, staff,
and faculty members in determining necessary reasonable
classroom accommodations. Faculty members are encouraged
to inform all students of the need to register with the
Student Disability Access Office in order to seek consideration for
reasonable accommodations.
SDAO has more information about academic
accommodations and faculty members’ roles in implementing
accommodations.
Faculty members with disabilities themselves may wish to
meet informally with their Dean or Department Chair to work
out an appropriate accommodation or contact the Coordinator
of Employment and Public Reasonable Accommodation.
